Announcements

A notice in the header of every workspace, on every page, at every scroll position. This is where a Global Admin tells everyone about a maintenance window or a service problem in progress. Open Global Admin → Announcements.

Writing one

• Kind. Info is a notice: people can dismiss it, and it ends on schedule. Alert is urgent: it cannot be dismissed while it runs, and it reads red. Use an alert for a service incident in progress, not for a planned window.
• Text. One or two sentences. The header shows the first line and truncates; the full text is in the sheet that opens on click.
• Starts and Ends, in UTC. Leave the end blank for a notice that runs until you end it.
• Preview shows the notice as it will look in both the light and the dark theme before you publish.

Every announcement is audit-logged when it is published and when it is ended.

Ending one early

The Recent list shows every announcement with its window and its state: scheduled, live, expired, or ended early. End now on a live or scheduled one takes it out of every header immediately and keeps the intended schedule on the record.

What else the header shows

A workspace administrator can write an info notice for their own workspace from Admin Settings → Workspace Notice; those never appear here and never read as alerts.

Workspaces also see alerts the system raises on its own. The first is the OSHA reporting countdown: when an incident is flagged as reportable, the header counts down the 8-hour or 24-hour window from the moment the workspace learned of it, on the same clock the reminder emails use, and turns to OVERDUE past the deadline until the report is recorded as sent or the incident is closed. Those are not written here and cannot be dismissed; they clear when the condition does.

When several notices apply at once, the header shows the most urgent — a workspace alert, then a global alert, then a workspace notice, then a global notice — with a count of the rest, and the sheet lists them all.
