Blocked Workspace Names

Anyone can pick their own workspace URL at signup. This list is what stops a rude one: a workspace name is refused when the name, or any hyphenated part of it, is on the list. Open Global Admin → Blocked Names.

Two lists, checked together

• Built-in. Ships with the app. Every install has it, it survives a database restore, and it cannot be edited here.
• Operator list. Yours. One word per line, saved from this page, in force the moment you save. Words are lowercased and stripped to letters and digits; a hyphenated entry becomes its parts.

How a name is matched

Whole words only. A blocked word refuses a name that is the word or that contains it as a hyphenated part: word, word-inc, my-word-co. It never refuses a name that merely contains the letters, so blocking cock does not refuse peacock, and Peacock Industries can sign up. The gap that leaves is stated rather than hidden: wordinc with no hyphen passes. The list stops the casual case; a determined one you delete afterwards.

What the visitor sees

That workspace name isn't available — choose another. The word is never quoted back, so the list is not taught to anyone, and a blocked name is never called "reserved", which is the sentence for routes the app owns such as login.

Already in use

The page lists existing workspaces whose URL would be refused today. Nothing happens to them automatically: renaming a live workspace breaks its URLs. Decide those one at a time.

Every save is audit-logged with the words added and removed.
